Security Fire Alarm Installer

Description:

"To engage in the business of installing, servicing or maintaining security or fire alarm systems" means and refers to a person who holds himself out directly or indirectly, as being able, or who offers or undertakes, by any means or method, to install, service or maintain a security or fire alarm system to detect intrusion, break-in, movement, sound or fire.

Age Requirement:

Submit an application to the Department of State which shows: 
• you are at least 18 years of age
• completion of at least 81 hours of qualifying education
• passage of an alarm installer examination
• freedom from disqualifying criminal convictions
• submit proof of fingerprint completion

Education Requirement:

Applicants are required to submit evidence of education which demonstrates sufficient training in installing, servicing or maintaining of security or fire alarm systems. The 81 hours of course work may be completed in any course of study which has been approved by the Department. The courses may be given by trade associations or other private entities.

Fees:

$200 - Initial Application (License without examination)
$185 - Initial Application (License after examination)
