  • Measures of education and training
  • Employment prospects
  • Comparison of New York State and U.S. occupational growth rates

Our Statewide projections cover the 2018-2028 time period and Regional projections cover the 2016-2026 time period. For additional information concerning these projections, see Technical Notes.

Short-Term Occupational Employment Projections

Short-term occupational projections are used for career counseling, economic development and other state planning. Projections offer additional information on annual wages (mean, median, entry and experienced), and measures of education. Data are currently available for all published occupations in New York State.

Statewide projections cover the 2020-2022 period. Employment data from the 2nd quarter of 2020 was used as the base period for the occupational projections. The COVID-19 pandemic caused employment to drop significantly during this time. As a result, the short-term occupational projections are showing record job growth for most occupations between 2020 and 2022 as the economy is expected to recover most of the job losses caused by the pandemic.
